Gorgeous park with a nice walking track that loops around the lake and some beautiful homes. Even on a foggy winter day it was full of people so I can only imagine how pretty it is in Fall, Spring, or Summer.
This park is cute. It has a track/loop that goes around the park, a nice size jungle gym for the kids and a decent size pond with a fountain. Great for an afternoon walk.
A beautiful little park that is full of history if you know where to look. The park itself was constructed on the site of an old golf course in 1906. The lake is artificial with a dam at the south west corner. Around the lake one can find stairs and benches dating from the early 1900s. The most prominent feature is the World War I memorial on the island. The giant stone obelisk inscribed with the names of the veterans lost in the Great War was dedicated in 1925. The sculptures are by Charles Keck. World War II, Korea, and Vietnam also have memorials on the island. In the north east corner of the park is a grove of trees planted in dedication to the 150th anniversary of the constitution. The park itself is level and full of wide paved paths. Parking is free on all streets surrounding the park. There are portable bathrooms located at various spots around the park. Dogs are permitting on leashes. The island is accessible via a small bridge. The gate is not locked during the day. The pond is stagnant in the summer and fills with duckweed and snails. There is a fantastic handicap accessible playground at the south end of the park.
