The Fine Art Academy of Montclair

I am a seasoned art maker who has been taking classes at FAAM for over a year now and it’s a wonderful community. I’ve taken classes at other spaces in the past and have never been somewhere like this. It is a chill, welcoming space for artists of all abilities. The instructors are all fonts of wisdom and extremely encouraging, they will meet you where you are at. Also love the open studios, especially BYOB Friday nights! You won’t regret checking it out.

I can’t recommend FAAM highly enough! Julian has created a space where anyone can pursue and achieve their creative goals, whether that’s building on existing skills or nurturing a passion for drawing and painting has been ignored. It’s a special place with a highly accomplished and curated set of instructors that will have you creating art on day 1. Julian has built his business model on going back to basics - the classic methods of the great painting masters, and it’s a solid strategy. The progress I have seen and experienced in my year taking classes is a testament to the teaching methods, passion and dedication of the FAAM team.

FAAM has such a welcoming and inspiring art community. I joined Alex’s Drawing class with no experience and came away with a solid foundation in drawing. Alex has a real talent for teaching—he supports beginners while also pushing advanced students, so everyone feels inspired to improve. I got to know so many kind, supportive artist, traveling from a distance has been completely worth it! Can’t wait to be back for the Fall painting classes .
